Lunar New Year Celebration:    “Taste of Asia”
Saturday, February 28, 2015 (6-9pm)

In North Texas, the Lunar New Year is an important event celebrated by many ethnic groups from Asia. The Lunar New Year marks the end of winter and the beginning of spring.  It is a time for family reunions, for honoring ancestors and for counting one’s blessings.  The 2015 Lunar New Year begins on Thursday, February 19th, and is considered as the most important cultural holiday among Asian communities, like Vietnamese, Chinese, and Koreans, etc…  2015 is the year of the ‘Sheep or Goat’ which represents strong creativity, perseverance and strong professional skills.

Asia World Media, International Elite Cultural/Performance Center, the Texas Performing Chinese Arts Association U.S.A. and in collaboration with North Texas Asian American and Pacific Islander communities is celebrating a new beginning of a new year with cultural performances, music and food from various Asian ethnic groups.

Food and music bridges cultural gaps and provides an intimate connection to the Asian Pacific American (APA) communities.  From the beginning, Asian American food have played a crucial role in strengthening community ties, creating and reinforcing cultural identity and for many, provide a taste of love, warmth and memories of home.  Being a part of this celebration is synonymous to being “in the hearts” of the Asian Pacific Islander communities.

2015 Lunar New Year Celebration:  “Taste of Asia” event will be held at the International Elite Cultural Center (IECC) in Richardson, TX on Saturday, February 28, 2015 (6pm – 9pm).  The event will help raise funds for the International Elite Cultural/Performance Center (IECC).  The IECC houses international classical performance groups, Asian Pacific Islander (APA) communities and Asian American seniors, who enjoy their free daily recreational activities, tai chi exercise, food, games and socializing with their own peers (see attachment pictures).   “Taste of Asia” will feature live classical music (East Meets West), traditional cultural Thai music and dance, Filipino dance groups, and food from various Asian ethnic groups.
