Join the Crow Collection for a lecture to herald a new installation of works of art from the private collection of Trammell and Margaret Crow recently donated at the bequest of Margaret Doggett Crow (1919-2014). Dr. Karin Oen will discuss their pioneering spirit as collectors of Asian art and demonstrate how the collection is representative of China’s history and culture, from the Neolithic period to the twentieth century.  She will also explore the ambitious and curious nature of other American families with an eye on the East as collections of Asian art were formed in the United States over the last 200 years. The story of Asian art in America is a fascinating one of risk-taking and bold audacity inspiring an important foundation for art education methods in the West for years to come.
